PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SEWAGE 2

Contd..
Turbidity, obviously sewage is turbid because of presence of suspended solids. Particularly, there are three types of solids, in the highest amount is of dissolved waste which is followed by suspended and settled solid respectively. The particle size is less in dissolve and greater in solid. Dissolved solids are metal cation salt and suspended solids, sometimes can be the precipitated. These suspended solids is crucial in presence or absence of microorganisms. settled solids are soils, sands and grits form by the result of surface run off. particularly solid are of two types volatile and fixed. Among these three settle able solids have low volatile solid than other two. Odour of sewage is determined by this volatile solids. However, odour is determined by gases produced during decomposition.
