Crying for Nepal

As I browsing through internet sudden I just typed NEPAL and click the tab of search web I got about 110,000,000 hits and I browsed more and I found Nepal in the list of world’s most poorest countries, most unemployment rate and populated in the Asia. Nepal is the world of its own I can’t compare with the neighboring countries like India and China, the two super powers of the world. But I can’t deny those facts how long can we survive in the foreign aid and remittance from the brothers and sisters working abroad. If lists like human right violation, human trafficking, drug peddling are kept, then it’s for sure that Nepal will be in top ten. That’s too I can’t deny it’s happening. I don’t want any kind of help in this case; those so-called friend countries are to blame for the condition of Nepal, and on the top of that the corrupt politicians of the world who are never after the development of country. Ha! Me just like everybody can’t help myself shouting and yelling like just like other citizens. Poor me! They said don’t think what country did for you; think what you can do for your country. Right now I am just a student and my primary job is to study but how can I? The capital city is closed for more than 90 days with various different reasons. This year more than 30 school has been closed in the name of Bandas, and Chakka Jam. If it’s the way our country is moving then Buddha should take rebirth and the environment and mentality like this he is not going to get enlightment in this era. God Bless Nepal.

My good old basketball days.

I was never interested in sports during my lower high school days; I am unable too because I was short and physically weaker than other guys of class. I was rather into mental competition like quizzes, chess and spelling contest; and won some prizes in that department but in sport that requires physical strength. But as I passed by 10th grade (SLC) exam, I joined National School of Sciences, and made few but new friends, new in interests and attitude, there’s one boy named Dipiz a.k.a. Dogg Pound Junkie (that’s way he like to call himself). I still remember how do we get acquainted with each other it was just the third day of our college, I was smoking on the rooftop of college and he wants the match box to light. Next day, I was the one who need the cigarette. As the day passed we started to smoke weed together along with some friends and one day we are caught by the guard and rooftop was closed and we are guarded with eagle’s eye. Due to the scarcity of the hangout, we used to bunk the college and gather to the nearby cafĂ© and basketball court. Then the true story begins, Dipiz was the good Basketball player during his school days, he brought the ball and killing the times becomes easier even during the high of weed. We were altoghter 6 guys, 4 smokers and 2 non-smokers. Tridip “The Doc”, Rajim “Cartoon”, Upan “ Captain”, Simpey “Great wall”, Abhaya “ No fear”, and me. At first, none of us besides Dipiz are player of the game but as the day passed by he taught us how to shoot better, how to handle the ball, and lay ups actually all the basics. As we progress gradually, the team is formed and we named it “Da Chronic”; the jersey was whole black with stripes of green, yellow and red with the leaf of marijuana on the center, we look like Rastafarian rather than a basketball team. But we are good enough to participate in tournaments but we never had such chance as the game was not that much popular at that time; Still worked hard and were playing no matter who were there as the opponent, the prize was just the cold drinks. The Doc always remained the first person to open the account for us. Cartoon is the one who can use is right hand and run so fast that he could breathe the lungs out of opponent. Upan “ The captain” is the one with such a strength and stamina that he can play for whole 3 hours with out resting. Simpey “The Great Wall” the tallest of all was the fierce competitor still playing but at that time he is the main rebounder and shot-blocker of our team. And Abhaya was the manager and I final resort when someone get tired or hurt during the play time. And me, they all call me “Jack, behind the back” as I play as the point guard and assist Dipiz in the playtime. Still missing good old ball game

Kakakul Kathmandu

Kathmandu: A city of temples; a favourite answer for never asked question in the quiz contest held in Nepal. Kathmandu according to the myth, was once a lake and all the water was drained out by Manjushree and civilization commenced. From that very moment this valley never ran scarce of water supply as it has hundreds of Dhungedhara (stone tap), well and natural spring just enough to meet the daily consumption of inhabitants. The word Kakakul is the name of the bird that drink water by digging its beat deep beneath the riverbank and quench its thirst.
We people of Kathmandu are not different than that birds because we are surrounded by various sources of water around the valley still hoping that one fine day, Melamchi Project will quench our thirst and wash away our daily problem of drinking water. Like that bird turned the view of water, we never glanced around the water resources within our proximities, like Shivapuri, Godavari, Matatirtha, Ichangu, Bungamati, etc. These are just the name of few water resources used by our starred hotels of Kathmandu, all of them are natural springs.
The tankers of capacity 10KL-20KL are engaged transporting water whole day to meet the requirement of Hotels. What if the government establish the project of its own at small scale for water supply to its citizen. Drinking water has become a sprouting business in context of kathmandu. There are more than 50 different industries involved in bottling and delivering the water from various natural resources. If we calculate the jar or pet bottle n which the water is filled is much more expensive than water itself which we have to import from third countries.
Problem of drinking water won't remain as issue if our government manage the water resources around the valley and stop thinking about Melamchi project. It has already been proved in laboratories that most of these natural spring don't contain any type of microbes or harmful element like arsenic; instead they consist of beneficial minerals. So, why don't we try to turn this problem into the solution as we can export these bottled natural spring water to gulf country as we did to our brothers in order to get remittance.
