Socially exclued group: Women

Abrham lincoln abolished the slavery of african from the americans ; the discrimination between just colour of the skin; black and white, between two races i.e. Americans and africans. But races in Nepal has different faces, culturally diverse ethnic groups and started the battle with arms and troops. Now the People's war is over. Did we really win the battle against racism? In the context of Nepal, the women are still one of the socially excluded groups. Nepali women are imprisioned in the four walls of house. Though there are some women who'd reached to the pinnacle of success and gained name and fame for themselves but the majority of females are underprivilleged. their misfortune starts from early childhood, most of the girl child are kept away from school; even lacks primary education when they grow little older, they are responsible for all the household works including gathering food for family and fodder of fawn. They are never taken as family rather unpaid servant for all of their life. They are not allowed to make major decision like giving birth which is directly concerned with their health.
Women here are victimes of domestic violence and traffiking due to lack of awareness and education. Some of them who are luck enough are hospitalized to mental ward of some government hospitals and those who lack the luck are sold in the brothels of red light area of Bombay. The worst thing happened to those trafficked women who are rescued are already infected with HIV, on returning to Nepal with the help of some human rights organization are said to be rehabilitated but they are treated as living dead.
When I think about all this, one of sayings said by girl beats the eardrum " Donot born as girl in Hills and as bull in Terai region of Nepal" In my view this is the only yardstick that can measure how hard they work, All work no play.
