Bhupi sherchan

"Ghumne Mech Mathi Andho Manche(A blind man on the revolving chair)," "Sahid Ko Samjhana(In the memory of martyr)," "Main Batti Ko Sikha(Flame of a candle)," "Ghantaghar(Clocktower)," "Hami(Us)," are just the name of the few books that I like the most in nepali literature all are written by Late Bhupi Sherchan. The down to the earth person having the poetry thrust on him. Though I never was interested in the poems or any other forms of literature. But since I bought the first poem work written by him, I was unknowingly attracted towards this subject. And I started my search in internet, I got 665 hit in name of Bhupi Sherchan which is far less than the Shakespeare who topped by 83,300 hits in his name. Isn't it a time to popularize great works of poets? I never read Shakespeare, so I don’t have any rights to talk about him or I hate to talk about him. Bhupi Sherchan analyzed Nepalese and Nepalese life in various aspect but showing the better way had been his major contribution. His writing needed to be heard outside the literary sphere as he wrote about alienation taking the laurey and migrants as the issue. About religion, where men made by god keep on making the sculpture of god; still talking as believer in skeptical manner. His ability to compare things as it is not what it seems to be can be taken as his main strength which is profound in his work.

“Yo hallai halla ko desh ho” or “It is an country of hearsay and rumors” that has been much quoted after the Royal massacre on June 1. Government mediocrity, contradictory narratives, lack of proof around the spot made public a different perspective to added just more rumor to that massacre. The ends of this poem are so able to justify those moments. Really this country is country of hearsay and rumors, he had seen it 30 years before than we did. Honored with Sajha puruskar (The biggest literary award of Nepal), he tirelessly served the country providing us a new vision sounds better if I say better vision will remain forever young in my heart.

You wrote to stimulate not for a fun.

In the hardest of moment didn’t hide or run.

Whisky during the dusk and steaming tea started your dawn

How can I pay my respect to my beloved Bhupi Sherchan.

Quest for feminisation

Feminization is at present an irresistable force. It has spread to different parts of the world. It is a comprehensive concept aimed at capturing, describing, and evaluating the profound qualitative and quantitative changes that have taken place in the feminine world from recent years. It denotes a process of long range of every changes, accepted by the members of the changing society as beneficial, inevitable, or desirable. Whether we describe this word 'feminisation', the breaking down of old tradition or the revolution of rising expectation, it is apparent that women are demanding and expecting change at a pace. There's a desire for whole lot of improvement which implies profound transformation from the four-walled boundary to the starstud throne which includes the light of education, women respect, security, power, and last but not the least, holds great hope for the welfare of the womankind.

People talk about the feminisation but when one speaks up, the rest of the judgements result into controversies and the wides range of discussions burst out. There's felt the need for emergence of new behaviour is there, but there comes the warrant that traditional values can't undergo the radical changes. The emergence of feminism concept in most of the independent countries committed to modernize their societies but are still loosely used.

The term feminisation still seems unsuitable to many countries. A misunderstanding of feminisation is found in societies and a misapprehension of relation between them.

Nevertheless, it is essentially a process- a movement from traditional to modern social structure, value orientation and motivation, and norms which still needs the focus of attention to enable woman to speak precisely of achievement observed and experience to quest the subject of feminisation with the touching and positive spirit.

Disappeared people

I am not writing this blog to draw the attention of the people but notify "the eight party alliances" on the issue of abducted and missing people during the ten-year of bloody insurgency in Nepal. The seven party government and Maoists were not seemed to be committed to make public clear whereabouts of the disappeared people. They are not determined to provide human rights and civic rights to the public. More than a thousands people are apprehended from the both sides (the Maoist and the state government) during the insurgency. The families of disappeared are still in agitation demanding the information about their family members. The plight of suffering family member is not heard by deaf ear of the government. Due to the negligence of the government the suffering families are not being able to perform their funeral ceremonies and last ritual. The children are still hopeful that one fine day their missing elders will come. The Maoist now is the parts of government that talk most about rights of civilian were also not supporting this issue.
I hope that the Maoist supreme “Prachanda” (the fierce one) yelled so badly when government and Maoist are allied together, talking about formation of New-Nepal, this and that, blah………. Blah. But forgot to wish condolence to those brave cadres without whom Prachanda is just another person. I hope that human rights commission and international communities will hear the plight of bereaved family by exerting pressure on the government and Maoist to inform the whereabouts of missing people

Hunger

There's one saying of ours " what's better food or hunger"? Answer " My lord! Hunger"
It holds true for everyone. Hunger is an mental and emotional drive that makes food palatable and digestible as well.As a vegetarian, i don't find much list of food in any types of menu in any restaurant. Most of my friends wonder how do you survive without meat products? Yet i am still alive. I wonder why don't they imagine that there are more different species of green vegetables and fruits than any edible four-legged animal i satisfy myself with bean soups and crunchy-munchy beaten rice or just a glass of milk and a loaf of bread or just a cup of tea with some biscuits to dip in . That's just enough to kill my hunger till my lunch. Lunch had always been delicatessen though it is usually a plateful of rice, bowlful of pulse (I prefer it to be yellow) and just 2 varieties of curry with spicy pickle; it's because of my hunger. I never eat my lunch till my stomach release some gastric juice. But in between lunch and dinner there's no need restriction as it's the time i usually play and party so anything that's vegetarian from momo, noodles, bread, finger chips, to a glass of wine is acceptable as an energy source for me. WINE! alcohol! hey how can anybody regard it as an energy source. But technically speaking it lies between fats and carbohydrates in calorific values and keep my belly tight till following

Swarmed "the movie"

Today, I woke up in mid afternoon and turned on the TV and just clicking the channels, in star movies, I saw the scene of experimental laboratory and as I am freak of sci-fi movie I stopped my fingers right there, the actor was using microscope by his side and observing the computer where the graph of different legends like ICAM, VCAM was showing my interest grew more and started watching. The toxicologist Kent Horvath played by actor Michael Shanks was measuring the toxicity in wasps that caused fatalities of Janitor of lab and doctor seeing the janitor. The recently produced pesticide was applied in order to control the wasps but it genetically modified those yellowjacket wasps into more toxic strains instead. Next scene was of entomologist Cristina Brown (Carol Alt) giving lectures on bees in the class who gets the information about the fatalities by the Police and goes to the lab and discussion begins between Kent and Christina. And he tell the effect of the super pesticides to her. And Bee buster Q played by Richard chevolleau was called to control the nest of yellowjacket wasps in same town but he ran out of the pesticide and goes to his toxicologist friend Kent for some pesticide but he took the same super pesticide though Kent ask him not to use that one; and goes for his hunt. He took the nest and applied the pesticide. Then the horror part of movie begins, now those genetically modified wasps flew to that small town and at one place the BBQ feast is going on and wrecking havoc started there but Kent, Christina and Q managed to kill them all with their brilliance and movie ended up with queen wasp laying eggs inside the incinerated vacuum cleaner as if director willing to make part II of that movie. Got to see it man, it may not thrills as other sci-fi movie but gives you bit of goosebumps for a while. Wasps feeding upon Barbeque! Ha! Ha!! Ha!!!

Quandary of choices

Human desires are unreplenishable. Adjective could be tagged "greedy." Choices flow hither and thither within the cranium that never seems to stop. Human are always busy exercising the better options and making choices in life. It's a drama in a real life!!!! But life doesn't always let you choose in an exhausting process. Choosing takes time and best efforts and sometimes heart as well. We have high expectations and the choices come through an honest effort and excellent grades. We look proudly at our choices but soon yell back with a wicked grin if there's another surprise alarming you by the another person making him/her rival from that very day.

After the ceremonies are over, women occupy themselves to the different world of choices. Their fate turn almost certainly pressing their personal choice and making them bold by the sense of change. Increasingly frustrated and dissapointed, by the end of the life, their dissatisfaction would be disappeared from their face.

Choices, in the other hand, make the important discoveries like pain, anguish, cruelty, pride. These are the magical contacts that we get to build the relationship with. Nevertheless, it is hoped that when surviving, choices give you the victory.

Either an infant or a child, either an old or a young, all are lifted by the quandary of choices. What counts is to get them identified. The next day, wrapping the skull, the trip to the different site bumps up. Finally, we could presume, something better may be in store for us and there would be no doubt regarding choices.

But unable to meet whatever choices we needed, forces make you curse your fate and luck reflecting your face "victim of choices".

Garbage management in Kathmandu, Now and Then

Kathmandu valley is not only the fusion of prehistoric culture and modern lifestyle but also stands the main trade and administrative center of Nepal. Though the efforts are paid for the development of this natural and cultural heritage Kathmandu but unmanaged urbanization and growing pollution stands as the fierce challenge. Being the capital city of country and only metropolis, Kathmandu is declared as municipality in 1920 A.D. and as metropolitan in 1996 A.D.
Garbage management in Kathmandu: As we walk down to the history lane, in ancient times civilians of this valley deploy the private sweepers or bury those garbage are dumped into the courtyard of own compound and reused all the garbage. About 40 years ago, the citizen of this valley sells the garbage at the rate of Rs. 0.5 per tin as mention in the book “The Newars” written by Mr. Gopal Singh Nepali. At that times people realized the importance of garbage and its management but now irresponsibility by all the citizens, this garbage really been a headache of the metropolitan city like Kathmandu as the result of which municipalities have to invest great deal of resources and manpower.
80% of garbage produced is collected and managed by the participation of Kathmandu municipality and private sectors, and are dumped by the Bagmati River. Out of about 308 tons of garbage is produced daily only about 250 tons of it is collected and dumped with the help of 1264 manpower. Kathmandu municipality has various resources viz: Tractors-37, Hydraulic tripper-25, Dumper placer-15, Compactor-11, Roll-off tripper-2, loader-6, Dozer-2, excavator-2, Ship-footed compactor-1 with annual financial investment of NRs. 14,90,00,000 (about US $ 24,03,225.80).
In order to elevate people’s participation, the kathmandu municipality has also mobilized the community in distribution of composting box, training in vermiposting and distribution of required materials, establishment of community recycling center, mobilized civilian volunteers and conduction of various programmes in national media.
Addition to that, to increase public awareness various exhibitions are also conducted. Every year awards and honor are given to individual, school and organization who has worked in this sector to motivate people. But still after all said and done, Kathmandu still has this problem, the city of thousand temples or city of dirt, what do citizens want think yourselves, if not you noone is going to clean it for you. Start thinking “My city, My responsibitlity".

Reusing of garbage.

How to reduce at source?
Basically the products we consume are of two types. One, the product that we had already used and can’t work for us no more for eg used paper, diffused bulb and another, the packaging material like polythene bag, can, bottle etc. So by used the things that uses less packaging material or things that can be used for longer period of time. For example, using fiber bags instead of plastics one during the shopping.
Reuse of garbage.
The most of the things we regard as garbage may be the raw materials for other industries. Turning the garbage in the useful raw materials is reuse. The different disposable things like papers, plastics, metal, biodegradable products can be separated and can still be reutilized.
Most of the domestic garbage, about two-thirds or more is usually of decomposable in nature, also known as biodegradable garbage; these types of garbage can be turn into compost and can be reused. Non-biodegradable substance can be separated and can be sold or reuse in other purpose.
The cycle of reusing can be depicted follows:
Industry--------Garbage collector-----------Consumer
In this cycle, consumer is the main source for production of garbage that converts the product from industry or producer into garbage. If it is disposed into the safe hands of Garbage collector it can be recycled into raw materials that is now ready to dispatch to industry, and this is how this cycle is completed.
To recycle these products, the cycle should be active between producer and consumer. These products should be handed to garbage collector or industry that manufacture raw material of that type. Or simply we can compost it for our own kitchen garden.
